Why does God call your name twice?

In Exodus 3:4, God calls Moses name twice because of the elevation he was being called to do. In verse 10, God tells him that he will go to Pharaoh to bring my people out of Egypt. He was promoted from keeping the flock of Jethro to becoming the children of Israel deliverer therefore God called his name twice.

Rev. Ron Godbolt, Special to The Sandspur

When God calls your name twice, there is an elevation for you. Throughout the Bible this happens to men and women of God. In Genesis 22:11, Abraham proved to God that he was willing to obey him even in taking his son’s life. Before he could cut him with the knife God calls his name twice — Abraham, Abraham.

He passed the test, proving he fears God.

In Genesis 46:2, God calls Jacob’s name twice. He was being promoted to being a great nation according to verse 3. He was just a man with 12 children and now was being elevated to a great nation with 12 tribes.

Are you listening for God to call your name twice?

In 1 Samuel 3:1-10, young Samuel was being called by God and thought Eli was calling him. Finally he responded, as Eli told him to speak "Lord thy servant heareth.” God calls him Samuel twice because of the elevation he was being called to. He was becoming God’s voice to his people. No wonder God told him they are rejecting me, not you, when they would not hear from Samuel. In Luke 10:38–42, Martha is called twice by Jesus. Martha gets upset with Mary because she is sitting at Jesus' feet listening to him instead of helping her fix food for the people. Jesus calls Martha's name twice to give her an elevation that Mary had in ministering to him. Lastly in Luke 22:31–32, Jesus calls Simon's name twice because of the elevation he was getting to avoid temptation. Jesus wanted him to know that Satan desires to have you but he had prayed for him. What a great elevation he was given to stand against the wiles of the Devil.

I want that type of elevation. How about you?

I challenge you to listen for the Lord to call your name twice. There is an elevation he wants to give you but remember the scripture says he that hath an ear, let him hear what the spirit says to the church. Everyone might have ears but not everyone has a spiritual ear that is needed to hear what the spirit says to the church. Dr. Ron Godbolt is pastor at Word of Truth Ministry, located at 3533 N. Main St.

What is a deep connection with someone?

An emotional connection is a feeling of alignment and intimacy between two people that goes beyond just physical attraction, having fun together, surface-level conversations, or even intellectual similarities. Instead, it feels like you're connecting on a deeper soul level—and feel secure connecting that deeply.

An emotional connection is a feeling of alignment and intimacy between two people that goes beyond just physical attraction, having fun together, surface-level conversations, or even intellectual similarities. Instead, it feels like you're connecting on a deeper soul level—and feel secure connecting that deeply. "Just like children, adults need to feel a secure attachment to another adult," couples therapist Josie Rosario, LMSW, MSed, explains to mbg. "That means it's important for us to know that someone will be consistently available, especially in time of physical or emotional needs." Think of it this way: This type of connection imbues the relationship with emotional texture, adding an essential feeling of security that establishes a foundation for genuine intimacy to blossom. When we feel unsafe to let down our guard, the bond between couples can be superficial at best. "As humans, the need for emotional connection is wired into our survival," adds licensed psychologist Justine Grosso, Psy.D. "It helps us feel a greater sense of belonging, which facilitates general well-being."
