Whenever I leave this city, I always have a feeling that I’m missing it. Not only the city, we often tend to miss our parents who are no more, or sometimes a friend, favourite cousins or even baba’s old looking bookcase at Kolkata home.

But really why do we miss people or a place?

We always wonder that when we miss someone, something, a place, is it because we love those things? Say when we miss a person, we keep on fighting with ourselves about the reason for missing that person? Sometime we miss people we hate. Many a times we miss people we fight all the time. We miss someone special when we are in love with that person. It might be infatuation (just for a few days). We respect her/his qualities. That person is always with us when we need someone to lean on. Whatever may be the reason, I would say it’s a very nice feeling to miss someone, a place or say a city. We keep on thinking about that person, the fond memories of the place we miss. Many people feel that it’s the worst feeling to miss someone, but I totally disagree with this. I feel it’s the sweet pain and we can for sure enjoy missing someone. The only thing we need to remember is that we have to miss the golden moment we spend with each other. I would say, please don’t ever miss bad times you spend with that person. Always try to cherish the good moments and it will surely bring a smile to your face. Another thing which people do is to hide their feelings in front of person they are missing. We must keep our ego aside and convey our feelings to that person. Life is too short; if we love or we miss someone do let them know. If that person understands us, it would never ruin our relationship. Love is missing someone, something or a place whenever we are apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because we are close in heart.

So what do you do, when you miss someone?

1. Avoid hibernating in your home

2. Stay connected with friends

3. Take time to listen to songs

4. Write an email to yourself

5. And lastly thank the person you are missing

Actually to sum up, missing someone or a place is your heart’s way of reminding you that you love the person or the place.
