Do you believe in destiny? Are you in search of your fated one? Have you ever heard of the "Red String of Fate"?

Many people believe that each person have one destined partner just waiting out there somewhere. It may not come soon as one might expect, but still there is a person who is tied to the other side of your red string for sure. In some countries particularly in Japan, China and Korea, there is a belief about destiny – an ancestral story of what they call “The Red String of Fate”. The story follows… “An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.” This philosophy argues that our lives move in a pre-ordained direction guided by invisible strings of thread woven into the fabric of the universe itself. While we might not realize, these strings connect us to a distant person we are fated to meet. Varying from the length of the string, it signifies how long the two-fated ones will cross each other’s path that may be shortened or prolonged depending on the circumstance and place. The idea of fate and destiny is so popular in Asia that it appears in just about every form of pop culture. Many of the Japanese drama, including anime, film and manga portrays the Red String of Fate as a story of two destined lovers connected by a single red thread. It shows plots full of obstacles, challenges and hindrances but at the end it always identifies the character’s destined “one true love” proving that the red thread will tangle or stretch but will never break. The origin of the red string of fate is derived from an ancient East Asian belief. In the Japanese and Korean culture, it is thought that the string is tied around the little finger while around the ankles in the Chinese legend. It is believed that the color of the string being red symbolizes attraction and desire, as well as passion and love. Moreover, for the Japanese, this belief is much more aesthetic and not just limited to intimate relationships but also with people whom we connect to. This also means a way to understand and describe our smallest to the biggest encounters with someone either in our ups and downs in life. This proves the term ‘pinky swear’ relating to promises made to chosen people by crisscrossing each other’s pinky fingers that also has something to do with the location of the red string. It speaks of a type of a relation that emerges from a finger toward all those with whom we will make history and all those whom we will help in one way or another.

With this said, out of billions of people existing in this modern world, who do you think is at the other end of your Red String of Fate?

How can I see my true image?

Hold two hand mirrors in front of you with their edges touching and a right angle between them like the two covers of a book when you're reading. With a little adjustment you can get a complete reflection of your face as others see it. Wink with your right eye. The person in the mirror winks his or her right eye.

One mirror is not enough to see yourself as others see you. When you look at a bathroom mirror you see an image of yourself with left and right reversed. If you don't believe it, extend your right hand to shake hands with yourself. The "person" in the mirror extends his or her left hand. A bathroom mirror switches left and right in any image it reflects. To see yourself as others do, you need a second mirror to undo the effect of the first mirror and switch the directions back again.

A Complete Reflection

Hold two hand mirrors in front of you with their edges touching and a right angle between them like the two covers of a book when you're reading. With a little adjustment you can get a complete reflection of your face as others see it. Wink with your right eye. The person in the mirror winks his or her right eye. This may seem strange after a lifetime of looking at bathroom mirrors. When you look at two mirrors held at right angles like covers of an open book, you see left and right restored to their original relationship. The reason is that the image you see has been reflected twice before reaching you.

Doubles

When you look at the right-hand mirror you see a reflection of the left-hand mirror, which in turn gives a reflection of the left-hand side of your face. And vice-versa. Two reflections are involved. This might sound complicated when you're reading it or listening to it, but it's easy to see when you try it.
