This raises the question; to whom one should listen, Mind or Heart or Soul?

We all come across this situation & there is a lot of confusion about heart, mind, and soul, especially in our present time era when we increasingly use numbers and big data (i.e., quantitative measures) to define what we mean. Here is my understanding of mind, heart, and soul. MIND is the activity of thinking self-using logic and/or reason to arrive at insights and conclusions about people, events, belief systems, and life. The mind takes the so-called ‘OBJECTIVE’ data of beings to order and organize them. I argue that it is ‘so called’ objective data because objectivity assumes an accurate 1:1 correspondence between the data and the thing, but only the thing itself contains such 1:1 correspondence, and over time most (if not all) things change, and so our data is always an approximation that includes some aspects of the thing that it claims to represent and omits other aspects of the thing. To summarise basic characteristics of the mind; INTELLIGENCE can be best expressed here. With more experiences & learning, the quotient of intelligence increases & enables an individual to make decisions based on the objective data available to their problems. HEART is the activity of the feeling self-using intuition, emotional touch or grasp, and subjective reaction to arriving at insights and conclusions about people, events, belief systems, and life. The heart takes the ‘SUBJECTIVE’ data regarding beings to make sense of them. In our data-driven age, we usually assume that subjective knowledge is inferior to what we call ‘OBJECTIVE’ knowledge, but in actuality, all-knowing is subjective (it has to make sense to ‘me’), and frequently, but not always, how we ‘FEEL’ about something is a better guide to the thing that we seek to comprehend than what we can tell about it from objective data. To pick one characteristic for the heart, LOVE would be the best align as it underlines the experience of feeling which is not visible but subjective to experience. SOUL is the intertwining of the mind and the heart. The soul is the complex of all our knowing and believing. The soul is the complete activity of the inner person. The soul is the representation of who we are on the inside, the summation of our thoughts (mind) and feelings (heart). To represent soul, PEACE is the best-defined character I can think of with no other alternative coming even close for consideration.

Thus heart, mind, and soul are three distinct concepts that we can use to describe our unseen selves, and though each is different all operate within the same sphere of who we are.

Music provides a great example of mind, heart, and soul.

I can listen to music and remember/recollect lyrics, think about the notes, the instruments used, the melody, and the writing of the tune, and I can analyze and appreciate the music from a technical point of view. This is the stage where the Mind is actively engaged to understand the technicalities of the music. I can also feel the music, sense the rhythm and beat, float with the melody, rise and sink with the harmony, connect with the depth of the lyrics, and lose myself in the sound. This is the stage where the Heart is actively engaged in connecting with the meaning (pain, pleasure, fun, romance, success, disappointments, motivation, etc.) of the music. The experience gets preserved in the Heart & pulled/withdrawn upon a similar situation in life to establish connect of the situation with the feelings of the music. I can also employ both my thoughts and feelings and enter into the music with my complete soul, appreciating both the varied instruments and the music as a whole, sensing and feeling each pulse of sound as the music infuses my soul, and entering into the musical experience with my complete soul, as if, at that point of time, time itself is lost and my complete being is captivated by the tune. Let's start with the combo of 2 together & understand what it gets delivered as its outcome. MIND + HEART # The mind represents intelligence & the heart represents love, the combination of these would enable us to have EMOTIONS best expressed as they are having clarity on the objective with the learning of past experiences on the subjective front.
