Read More »True best friends are as rare as picking a four-leaf clover or winning the lottery. But once you find true friends, they will try their best to stay with you forever. Friends, in addition to our given family, are one of the greatest treasures in life. They are the family that we get to choose, that we willingly welcome into our lives because our worlds are much brighter with them in it. And if our friends can hold our deepest secrets and pick us up when we're down, they should at least have a notable nickname to carry with them as a reminder of how much we love and appreciate them and their friendship.

Twins Cities dating and relationship expert says don’t be afraid to share your values before you agree to go out! MINNEAPOLIS — Cupid is preparing to spread the love. Valentine’s Day is Feb. 14, and people everywhere will be looking to connect with friends, family, loved ones and perhaps someone altogether new. Kimberly Koehler is a Twin Cities dating & relationship coach. Koehler visited KARE 11 New at 11 to share some important do’s and don’ts when it comes to first dates. “Ditch the ‘meeting for coffee or drinks’ if you’re seeking a serious relationship. Choose to go on dates that allow you to engage in an activity,” said Koehler. So what qualifies as a first date? “It could be as simple as going for walk, playing a sport, going to a museum, taking a cooking or painting class together. There are so many options. Browse social media or check out local news sources for their events pages. Go on dates with sincere intentions. Put your best foot forward, and be authentic,” said Koehler. Experts say you can lower your stress by treating a first date as an opportunity to get to know someone. Stay present in the moment; put away your cell phone, and avoid focusing or pushing for an outcome. However, Koehler said, "It’s definitely OK to ask for a kiss at the end of a first date, and it’s definitely OK to decline if you’re not feeling it. “ If you’re enjoying each other, look for second date opportunities. “Don’t be afraid to ask for a second date during or at the end of the first date. However, don’t agree to a second date if you are not interested," added Koehler. “Just be honest, keep it positive, have fun!”
