How do you play queen of Hearts?

Each week, a ticket is drawn randomly from a large bin, and the envelope that corresponds with the number on that ticket is opened to reveal the card inside. If it's the queen of hearts, the ticket holder wins the grand prize, or 60 percent of the total pot — in this case, about $4.2 million before taxes.

McHenry VFW Senior Vice Cmdr. Ben Keefe is sprayed with silly string after revealing the queen of hearts, the card worth about $4.2 million in the massive VFW Post 4600 Queen of Hearts raffle in suburban McHenry on Sept. 18, 2018. (Chris Sweda / Chicago Tribune) A lot is on the line when the Queen of Hearts raffle drawing happens in McHenry Tuesday evening — $7,080,528, to be exact. Here’s how it works: • The game consists of a deck of 52 shuffled playing cards plus two jokers. Each is placed in a sealed envelope bearing a random number from one to 54 and displayed in a locked glass board. • Players write one of these numbers on each of their raffle tickets. Each week, a ticket is drawn randomly from a large bin, and the envelope that corresponds with the number on that ticket is opened to reveal the card inside. If it’s the queen of hearts, the ticket holder wins the grand prize, or 60 percent of the total pot — in this case, about $4.2 million before taxes. The queen of clubs yielded a prize of 5 percent of the pot, or about $278,000, two weeks ago. • If there’s no grand prize winner, the game rolls over with whatever cards are remaining. Because the queen has eluded players for almost two years (the deck was restarted after a second joker was picked), the prize has swelled to an unheard-of level. So organizers have decided that with Tuesday’s drawing, they will keep going until the grand prize is nabbed. • Because of the draw-down, it’s possible that any subsequent tickets drawn could correspond to a number no longer available in the playing deck. If so, the next highest numbered envelope will be opened. If there’s no higher number, the lowest remaining number will then apply. • Tickets cost $5 for six and can be purchased until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the McHenry VFW Post 4600 hall, 3002 W. Illinois Route 120. The drawing is scheduled for 8 p.m. Winners need not be present.

What does DW mean in text?

don't worry As with many other internet acronyms, it's hard to pin down exactly when DW emerges as short for don't worry, but it's likely in the 1990s with the rise of internet forums and text-messaging. Don't worry is a fairly common stock phrase in the English language.

Where does DW come from?

If you’re German, you’ll know DW as Deutsche Welle, which is like German’s version of BBC or NPR. But dw, we won’t bore you with that. As with many other internet acronyms, it’s hard to pin down exactly when DW emerges as short for don’t worry, but it’s likely in the 1990s with the rise of internet forums and text-messaging. Don’t worry is a fairly common stock phrase in the English language. Given its relative commonness, it’s easy to imagine why digital communicators wanted to save time and space with a DW shorthand. The character DW from the children’s 1990s–2000s series Arthur also deserves a mention. Short for Dora Winifred, DW is the title aardvark’s overly dramatic but loving younger sister. She often revels in getting her brother in trouble. Perhaps it is her expressive personality that has made her character such prolific meme fodder in the 2000s.
