1) The meeting

During this stage, you’re actually preparing yourself for this cosmic reunion.

For many people, including myself, this involves some sort of self-discovery. You’ll be more self-aware and have a better understanding of yourself and others. If you pull away from your twin flame during this stage, you’ll simply let your fears guide you and avoid potentially one of the most powerful feelings you could’ve ever felt.

2) The “it’s them” stage

You look into their eyes, and you know…

You’ll definitely remember this moment for the rest of your life.

This is when you find yourself standing with your twin flame in one room, seeing and interacting with them for a bit longer.

You’ll instantly feel that they aren’t just another stranger.

The exact feeling will be different from person to person. It depends on countless amount of factors like:

Your past experiences with love;

It’ll like you’re losing yourself or going insane with how hard you love them. And you’re falling for them harder each day too. Some people might try to resist this feeling, but most will succumb. At the same time, however, you also feel like you’ve found your other half (because you have!). Most people do not pull away at this stage because of how euphoric it feels. Everything will simply feel perfect. But if you do pull away, you’re doing it out of doubt and fear.

You likely feel like you’re “losing” yourself more than you are “finding.”

You’ll start questioning yourself as well as your twin flame. You’ll question if what you feel is true love or just extreme infatuation. Your twin flame will be painfully confused. One day you were out having the best date ever, and the next day you were suddenly distant, cold, and doubtful.

They’ll start questioning themselves:

Did I do something wrong?

4) The falling out

If you stayed after the temptation to leave in the previous stage, you’d find yourself deep into the relationship. Months. Years. Maybe even a decade or two. You feel happy. Your intense love for each other is still there, but the boiling has slowed down to a nice consistent simmer. You feel like you truly know each other not just as people but as souls.

This is what you wanted…

…right?

It’s nice, happy, and comfortable.

But… maybe a bit too comfortable. A standstill occurs. You start taking each other for granted. Or perhaps things get difficult with the problems of daily realities. You could still feel that intense spiritual love, but for some reason, it’s getting harder and harder to manifest and express that love concretely. Slowly but surely, intentionally or unintentionally, one person (likely you if you’re reading this) grows more distant.

Your partner feels hurt and abandoned.

They thought that your unbreakable bond would power through tough moments just like these.

They thought that you’d be there for each other.

But no, you might express something like a need for more space and solitude. Or maybe you just can’t help but start pulling away without a word. They’re perplexed and absolutely depressed. They try to talk it out and look for answers and solutions. But there are no answers. Only deep, heartwrenching pain that something they’ve invested so much of their time, effort, and soul in is in danger.

5) The running and the chasing

As you go deeper and deeper into turmoil, you’ll find that your relationship has evolved into a new dynamic.

One will be the runner. As they pull away, they’ll usually:

Talk less;

Want more space or “time off”;

Become less romantic and affectionate;

Express less of their emotions.

The other will be the chaser, who’s always:

Trying to ask the runner if they’re okay;

Trying to lighten up the mood;

Trying to find solutions to the relationship’s problems;

Trying to reignite intimacy.

As you can see, the keyword here is “trying.”

The chaser will keep chasing, but the runner will also keep running. The chaser never truly catches up to the runner… Tension keeps escalating, and the runner will eventually start to truly run away from the relationship.

Eventually, the chaser might stop chasing too.

They’re too exhausted from chasing, realizing that they can do nothing but watch in existential despair as their most treasured relationship starts to crumble.

But that raises the question:

Why does love so often start out great, only to become a nightmare?

And what’s the solution to having your heart broken once you’ve just opened it up to the new beautiful feeling?

I met my twin flame when I was 19. Now, I see that it was too early for us to build something meaningful so young.

But at the same time, I often ask myself, what could’ve happened if I knew certain things about relationships back then?

Would we still be together if I knew it?

The answer is contained in the relationship you have with yourself.

I learned about this from the renowned shaman Rudá Iandê.

His teachings are about seeing through the lies we tell ourselves about love, and becoming truly empowered. It doesn’t really matter at what age you meet your twin flame. It can happen very early in your life or when you already grew some grey hair. The most important thing is where you are in terms of your relationship with yourself. Far too often, we chase an idealized image of someone and build up expectations that are guaranteed to be let down.

Within such an intensive relationship, it’s easy to fall into codependent roles of savior and victim to try to “fix” our partner, only to end up in a miserable, bitter routine. Far too often, we are on shaky ground with our own selves and this carries over into toxic relationships that become hell on earth.

Worst, the runner simply disappears, and the chaser is left to pick up after the mess. There is not much to say here. The relationship is just now over. The chaser might deeply regret doing it, but they’re paralyzed by all the complex and contradictory emotions that they are likely overwhelmed by. Similarly, the runner will be in crippling depression, struggling to accept the fact the relationship is over. Both of you will be in despair and emotionally damaged. It’s not an understatement that you just might question if your life still has meaning as you go through this stage.

But remember, it is not meaningless at all.

This stage—and all the other stages, regardless of if or when you might separate—has a divine purpose.

7) The surrender

At this stage, both of you have been driven to your wits’ end, but eventually, you’ll surrender any hope of a reunion. A deep, dull pain weighs over your entire mind and body every day, but you try your best to move on, heal, and pick up your life once again. Still, you lack the confidence and vigor to go through life now that you’re separated. During this stage, you may even think of reuniting. You take a step forward away from your relationship, but on some days, you can’t help but take a step back towards it. Life in general, feels meaningless and directionless for you. In fact, it’s common for twin flames to go through these stages repeatedly in life (or over multiple lifetimes). After all, you still love each other. And the both of you know that you still love each other.

You’re twin flames, after all.

You’ll always be cosmically drawn to each other as two halves of one soul.

8) The oneness of twin flames

And because of this, it’s inevitable that you’ll be back together.

You simply cannot exist without the other—you’re each other’s half!

This is the final stage of the cycle.

It occurs when you achieve self-realization as an individual, fully healing from the past and discovering yourself fully. Your souls enter into complete vibrational alignment, allowing you to truly see and understand each other on a spiritual level. It’ll feel like coming home. The connection will be even stronger, but it’ll also feel more peaceful and natural now. You and your twin flame will commit to building a life, facing the future, and fulfilling your divine purpose together, hand in hand, as the one single soul you are. But remember: while this is bound to happen, it may or may not happen in this lifetime.

What’ll happen when I pull away?

Twin flames are inexplicably drawn to each other. As I said above, if one starts to pull or run away, the other will feel the need to chase them. However, on Earth, we are all only humans, and the chaser will eventually get tired and quit the pursuit. This signals the end, where the two of you give up the relationship. While extremely painful, time away from each other may allow you to find yourselves as individuals. It’s an opportunity for you to focus on the necessary inner work, letting the future come as it does. Even if you are aware of the existence of twin flames and the fact that you are destined to reunite, this reunion will not happen if you do not heal yourself and rediscover your purpose with the divine.

Only after…

Fully healing;

Overcoming our ego;

Conquering our fears;

Mastering ourselves;

And, most importantly, aligning ourselves with our divine purpose;

…will the universe allow twin flames to reunite.

This is why the twin flames might get stuck in the stages before their ultimate reunion. They might need to go through it multiple times over the course of several lifetimes before they are able to achieve self-actualization and be eligible for the final reunion.

However, how easy is it to actually become the best version of yourself?

When I had a painful breakup last year, I felt like I was not living my life aligned with a deeper sense of purpose.

After watching the video, I discovered my purpose in life, and it dissolved my feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction. I knew I was capable of many wonderful thighs, and I started to believe I an achieve whatever I set my mind to in no time! This helped me to heal from the breakup faster and build a new healthy relationship with my current partner.

Before you can reconnect in true harmony, you need to first grow emotionally and spiritually. Only with such maturity will your souls be able to truly reunite.
